Karisma Kapoor Is The Newest Item Girl In B-town

Karisma Kapoor is all set to join Bollywood's glamorous item girl brigade. The 37-year-old yummy mummy will be seen shaking her booty in a special number in director Sajid Khan's upcoming Housefull 2. Karisma recently signed her first full- ledged starring role in five years by way of Vikram Bhatt's forthcoming 3D horror flick, Dangerous Ishq.

She was reportedly approached by Housefull 2 producer Sajid Nadiadwala for the item song. Nadiadwala, who shares a strong professional rapport with Lolo, reportedly tapped her after Rani Mukerji turned down the offer.

"Sajid Nadiadwala and Karisma have been friends ever since she worked in his nineties blockbusters such as Judwaa and Jeet. The buzz on Rani is that things didn't work out. Karisma, on the other hand, is a close friend of Nadiadwala, who feels she is looking more gorgeous than ever before," an industry source said.

Karisma, incidentally, is the second married actress who has been approached for a Bollywood item number. Recently, Raveena Tandon returned after marriage and motherhood to do an item dance in the Amitabh Bachchan- starrer Bbuddah Hoga Terra Baap. However, Raveena's item dance was only used for promotional purposes.

"Item numbers have returned with a bang. Since dancing ability is the most important factor in an item number, producers feel senior heroines such as Karisma and Raveena can work wonders. After all, the audience is gradually maturing to accept married actresses as glamgirls," the source said.

Lolo's last outing as a heroine was the 2006 film, Mere Jeevan Saathi, co- starring Akshay Kumar. The film was a dud. In 2007, Karisma pitched in with a Deewangee song in Shah Rukh Khan's Om Shanti Om. Thereafter, the actress shifted focus on marriage and family.

Karisma to do a Hema?
Karisma is gearing up to play Hema Malini's role in Soham Shah's Satte Pe Satta remake. Soham has approached her for the central role opposite Sanjay Dutt, who plays the Amitabh Bachchan character from the original. Dutt has also co-produced the film.

Soham had originally approached Madhuri Dixit, but she turned down the offer. The offer then reportedly went to Aishwarya Rai- Bachchan and Vidya Balan by turns but nothing materialised.

Playing Dutt's six brothers in the remake would be Arshad Warsi, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Kunal Khemu, Deepak Dobriyal, Rajat Barmecha and Shakti Kapoor's son Siddhant.
